Advanced ensembles perform for Elementary School 5th and 6th graders to get them excited for Middle School level music classes!

Students perform music for current Elementary School 5th and 6th graders. This is good practice for the performing students to have an audience and it gets the 5th and 6th graders excited to try out and join strings/ band.

Results

5th and 6th graders are excited to sign up for band/ strings in 6th or 7th grade, and the middle school students get great practice at performing for an audience before we perform for our concert.

Marching Band

As students transition into high school they have the ability to participate in the High School Marching Band. We usually have students attend a Homecoming game when they are in 8th grade to give them a taste of marching band.

Objectives

Students are able to:

  • March in time with the music they are playing using good techniques.

  • Play music while marching in collaboration with peers.

  • Have leadership opportunities that can help them prepare for future leadership roles.

Results

Students are able to put together a marching show where they are all playing collaboratively and compete in marching competitions with other schools. Students take leadership roles, run rehearsal, and help others with music and marching.
