About Me
My name is Miranda Carlson, and I am the current band director at Kearney Middle School. I am from Aurora, Colorado, and I started my musical journey in high school where I taught myself to play clarinet to join the high school marching band. I then advanced with my musical skills to the school's highest level band and became a section leader.
I went on to study Music Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver. I spent four a half years working on my degree participating in a variety of music ensembles, projects, and doing observations hours at elementary, middle, and high schools to learn from other teachers. I graduated in December 2019 Cum Laude.
I started my teaching career at Pennock Elementary as a general music teacher. I stayed there for two and a half years then transferred to my role here at Kearney. I am also the current Assistant Director of the Adam City High School Soaring Eagles Marching Band. I also teach sixth grade beginning band and sixth grade beginning strings at three Adams 14 Elementary Schools.
In my free time I participate in the community ensemble, the Mile High Freedom Band, as the flute section leader. I also play in flute choir and volunteer to play at my friend's church Christmas concerts.
I have a love for music but I also love aviation and have an aviation podcast. I also love going to the gym and keeping active.
